Amy Cook is a singer/songwriter living in Austin, Texas who weaves the sounds of alt folk, pop, Americana, and rock and roll into a "moody and kick-ass" (Velvet Park) canopy of sound. Amy will release Let the Light In produced by Alejandro Escovedo in spring of 2010.

"Hotel Lights," the first single from the record (with backing from Patty Griffin and Tosca String Quartet) was featured as WXPN's Morning Download in mid-December . . . "You'll be more than mesmerized with this absolutely beautiful song; it's perfect in its pacing and phrasing and desirous longing for wanting something you can't have. Or maybe you can."

Cook's last record, The Sky Observer's Guide (2007), recorded in Austin, gained her praise from the music press and contributed to Amy being featured in Out Magazine's "Top 100 of 2008" alongside Tegan & Sara and Amanda Palmer. The Sky Observer's Guide was a collaboration with Amy Adler, a visual artist who fashioned five large-scale sepia renderings of Cook for the record release at the Aspen Museum of Art.

Prior to moving to Austin in 2005, Amy was a part of the Los Angeles music scene where she was a frequent performer at Hollywood's Hotel Cafe, a venue that became well known for establishing the careers of many musicians. She was featured on Live at the Hotel Cafe, Volume 1. With more than 20 song placements in TV and film (from Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Party of Five, Veronica Mars, MTV's Laguna Beach, and The L-Word, to the thoughtful, Emmy-winning full-length documentary "Amargosa" directed by Todd Robinson) Amy has cultivated a solid reputation as a talented songwriter. This last year, Robinson released a documentary about life on the road called "Amy Cook: The Spaces in Between." Cook's other releases include The Bunkhouse Recordings, The Firefly Sessions and From the 52nd Story.
